Your gift to Pickles Group helps kids impacted by their parent’s cancer through the sweet days, the sour days, and every day in between.

One in twenty kids will experience a parent’s cancer diagnosis before they graduate high school. With more than 3 million children and teens in the U.S. who are affected, there is an overwhelming and unmet need for the support we provide. With cancer rates rising in parenting-age adults, there’s never been a more important time to create a space where kids can find community, understanding, and hope through a parent’s cancer.

When you give, you help kids find a community of other kids that understand.

Emily & Jacob’s Story

When Emily was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer, it was just her and her 11-year-old son, Jacob. Jacob rarely talked about cancer, at home or with friends, and he wasn’t sure Pickles was for him. Then, in his first Connect Over Cancer session, he heard another kid talk about his dad’s stage four diagnosis. It was the first time Jacob had heard someone his age share that experience. Since then, he’s made friends who truly understand, found words for his feelings, and started opening up to his mom. Together, they now practice Sweet and Sour, a Pickles check-in tradition, a few times a week. “It has been nothing but healing and connection for our family,” Emily says.
